Hellos, chapter two part one up. ^^

Chapter 2

Six years later…

“Shhh… Shhh…” Slashing sounds were produced as fifteen-year-old Jake hacked at the empty air. Twisting around, he brought his sword to the tip of his fingers. Balancing it carefully, he thrusted the sword in front, before slashing at the invisible enemy again.

After Jake was sure that his moves were perfect, he stopped and sat down on the grass, wiping his sweating face on his shirt.

He looked up, gazing at the green leaves rustling in the wind. I can’t believe it is spring already. He thought. A breeze blew across his face, cooling him immensely.

A grin lit up his handsome features as he recalled how he had first met Ally under the very same apple tree, and the promise...

He frowned. Talking about Ally, where is she?

*********
Meanwhile…

“Miss Lasana, I simply can’t comprehend why you must dress me up in this ridiculous dress.” A slender girl with purple eyes said annoyedly as she scrutinized herself in the mirror. Tugging at the big lavender bow behind her dress, she continued, “and this ribbon! Can’t you take it of?”

Lasana smiled at the princess, admiring her handiwork. “You look gorgeous your highness. Why should you take it off?”

It was true, Ally’s tight and short long sleeved dress showed her tiny waist to the best advantage, and the lavender bow matched her brilliant amethyst eyes perfectly. The color of her dress was pale yellow, with a sleeveless vest made out of red velvet.

Lasana has rather good tastes. Ally admitted to herself silently as she looked at her reflection. Other than the dress, she was wearing a pair of dainty red shoes with black, gauzy stockings, chosen by none other then Lasana again.

I hope she can be faster though. She glanced nervously at the sun outside. It seems to be 3 o’clock already.

Jake must be angry with me. She thought worriedly. She had promised to meet him under the apple tree by 2 o’clock.

Ally stood as patiently as she could as she let Lasana do her hair. Lasana expertly tied two scarlet lace ribbons at the side of her hair. At last, Ally couldn’t stand it anymore. Spinning around, she headed for the door. “I’ll go now if you have nothing else more to do, Miss Lasana.”

Lasana sighed. Her highness was always rushing around … But she just nodded. “I will be with you in just a minute, your highness. Please wait for a moment.” Lasana said as started to bustle around putting the extra cloth and ribbons away.

“Actually, I would like to go out on my own.” Ally stopped and said abruptly.

Lasana stopped in her tracks. “Hmmm….” She said thoughtfully.

Please don’t come with me. Ally prayed inwardly as she tried to let her face remain passive.

Finally sighing Lasana replied. “As you wish your highness. But your highness, please be back before dinner.”

Ally heaved a sigh of relieve silently. For a moment, she thought Lasana would force to come with her. “Yes, I will. So I shall see you in my chambers around 5 o’clock.”

“Yes, your highness.” Lasana said as she curtsied and opened the door.

Ally walked through the hall quickly, hoping that no one would realize that she was without a guard or her maid. She had taken her guards away five years ago as she believed had grown up enough and could take care of herself now. Lasana had grudgingly agreed, only if she accompanied her every time. Even though she had said that, she haven’t exactly followed up her words. Lasana always allowed her to go for her ‘walks’ in the garden unaccompanied as she thought that there was plenty of supervision and that she wouldn’t come to any harm.

As she walked, servants and guards bowed and curtsied to her. She walked past them quickly, ignoring them. I hope they won’t follow me… she thought.

She was nearing the entrance to the gardens when she saw a group of women coming from around the corner. As they walked past, the guards and servants bowed down deep and crossed their arms. It could only mean one thing… either of her parents.

Her mother, Queen Kienna walked at the front of the group. Her long, light blonde hair was bundled up and bound into a neat bun at the nape of her neck. He gown was a pale blue, with matched her sapphire eyes. Although she was in her late thirties, she looked like a woman little over twenty.

“Mother…” Ally murmured to herself, slightly shocked. It was so rare for her to be able to see her parents.

As the Queen approached her, Ally, curtsied and said respectfully. “Good afternoon, your majesty.”

The Queen stopped in front of her. Smiling, she greeted. “Good afternoon to you too, Alexabdra.”

Ally looked at the ground, why does she feel nervous all of a sudden?

“It has been quite some time since I have seen you hasn’t it?” Her mother said softly.

Was that regret she heard in her voice?

“Yes it has indeed.” Ally replied. ‘The last time I remember was during the Ball of the Spring.”

“You are right.” Her mother said slightly sorrowfully.” So it has been a month already…” Looking at her again, she asked. “So how are things going with your magic lessons?”

Ally stiffened. “Very well. I am learning a lot.” She replied. It was the truth, she had indeed learned a lot. Not only did Tutor Sherennda teach her how to control her magic, she taught her the history of magic too and the different types of magic.

“That’s good.” Her mother nodded. Just then, her one of her ladies in waiting stepped forward and whispered urgently into her mother ears. After listening, she shuffled her feet slightly and looked at her apologetically.

“I’m sorry darling, I would love to speak longer with you, but I am in a hurry now. Maybe we could speak some other time?”

Ally stepped back. “I am sorry for blocking you, your majesty. May the elementals be with you.”

“May the elementals be with you too.”

With that, the Queen walked briskly down the hallway, followed with her maids.

Ally gazed slightly longing after her back. Mother…

Just then, her eyes hardened. What am I thinking about? Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she slipped out of the palace.
