Part four
Part four out! I spend quite alot of time editing it. It is now unconisable from the first daft. Seriously, I rewrote it so many times. So now, the story...
Chapter one part 4
When he first arrived at the old apple tree, he had never expected anyone to come into the orchard…
He walked closer to the young girl lying under the apple tree, careful not to wake her up. Her long, golden brown hair was spread around her. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was light. She had a slender face with delicate features. Her lashes were long and dark and her skin was flawless and smooth.
Her face reminded him of someone, but he couldn’t quite place it.
Suddenly, she stirred. Startled, he jumped back.
The girl woke up with a start when she realized there was someone beside her.
Sitting up, she looked at him, her purple eyes were wide.
“Wh…Who…who are you?” She stammered.
Jake sat down beside her.
“I’m sorry to have startled you.” He said quickly. “But I was curious to know why a young girl is sleeping under a tree.” He ended sheepishly.
“It’s alright,” Ally replied. She must have fallen asleep. Who is he, she wondered. He was wearing a white tunic and black breeches. She looked carefully and found the symbol of Irtland, a silver wolf with nine tails, sewed on his sleeves.
There were only one type of people who had the symbol of The Wolf sewed on the sleeves.
“You’re a Trainee.” She said coolly, tilting her head at the stitching on his sleeves. Although no one knows about it, Ally admires the warriors and Trainees deeply. They were hardworking and well respected, and they train hard under the sun too. She had often watched the warriors and trainees train in the training ground, behind the palace. She enjoyed watching them practice and train.
“Yeah,” he said rather shyly. “What about you? Who you?” He asked as he smiled at her.
“It’s none of your business!” Ally said sharply. Although she snapped, she was secretly relieved in her heart. He must not have recognize her. For him not to recognize her…it is very interesting. Ally thought, amused.
Jake frowned, she reminded him of someone, but he couldn’t figure out who.
“I’m sorry. I should have been a little more tactful, I guess.” Jake apologized.
“You shouldn’t creep up on a girl.” She said, her voice flat.
“My sincere apologies miss.” Jake apologized again. “I shouldn’t have approached you, but I was curious as to why there was a girl out here.”
“I’m glade you know. I hope you will not do that again.” The girl said.
“Yes, miss.” Jake said politely.
Somehow, her words and actions reminded him of someone, if only he could remember…
“So… what were you doing here?” The girl asked. ‘if you are a trainee, shouldn’t you train in the fields or something?”
“Oh.” Jake was a little surprised. He had forgotten all about his training! “I came because I wanted to train. The training field was too noisy and crowded, so I came here as it a deserted area and nobody ever come here. I like to practice in a quiet environment so that I can concentrate.”
“Oh.”
“So, what’s your name?” He asked, smiling.
“I…um…I…” The girl fumbled, her face was flustered, and she looked uncomfortable.
“It’s none of your business. Why don’t you tell me yours first?” She said quickly.
Ally held her breathe, trying not to look as panicky as she felt. She must have seemed suspicious, stammering like that. Will he figure out who she was?
To her relief, the boy frowned first then said. “I am Jake Tinoon. Nice to meet you.”
Ally nodded wordlessly, and took a closer look at him. He has spiky dark red hair which were tousled by the wind, his eyes were a most startling green. He looks to be a year or two older than her.
As Ally was looking at Jake, Jake was looking at her too. She is rather pretty, he thought, with long dark blond hair and the startling purple eyes…about 8 years old… Jake frowned. Purple eyes…
Just then, he remembered. “You!” He started.
Ally jumped.
“Could you be the Princess?!”
Ally was startled. She thought that he wouldn’t recognize her, but he did! Afraid that he might inform the guards, she jumped up.
“Under no conditions are you suppose to tell anyone I am here do you understand? If you do, I will order you to be beheaded immediately.” Alexabdra hissed. She didn’t want to be found out, not after she had finally found refuge within the palace walls.
The boy, having calmed down from his initial shock, smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody your highness.”
Ally narrowed her eyes. “You better not, if you value your life.”
Although he was slightly startled at her sudden change of hostility, he grinned and bowed. “Nice to meet you your highness.”
Ally didn’t say anything, just eyed him coolly.
Jake felt nervous under her gaze. He suddenly remembered her telepathic abilities…
Suddenly standing up, she said. “I better go. I must be preventing you from training.”
“Wait!” Jake cried out.
The princess stopped and looked back at him, slightly surprised.
“I…I mean…you can stay here for a while longer. You aren’t bothering me at all. Besides, you are in trouble with Tutor Sherennda aren’t you? I heard her calling your name just now. There are probably guards running around the palace trying to find you now. If you go out. You will definitely be found.” Jake stammered, flushing all the while. Where by the elementals did he get the courage to ask the Princess to stop?
The princess stared at him. “How did you know all of that?”
“Erm… I overheard Tutor Sherennda shouting for your highness a while ago.” Jake said hesitantly.
Ally turned back. Tossing her hair back, she said resignedly. “I suppose you have a point then. It will be rather foolish for me to go out now. Mayhap a while later...” Suddenly, she sighed.
Jake was slightly taken back. She seemed so sad and lonely… I wonder why…
Shaking off his worries, he smiled and said cheerfully. “You can stay here for as long as you one. It is not likely for people to come here.
Seeing that Jake was looking at her with a strange expression, she said. “What are you looking at?”
“Nothing…”
Ally raised an eyebrow but did not say anything.
Jake glanced at the princess, she was silent, seemingly in her own little world. He turned back to face the orchard. They were sitting side by side leaning on the old apple tree. They had not spoken for quite sometime.
He thought back to what he heard about the Princess. “She’s cold, as cold as ice.” They had said. “But she is powerful and a genius.”
She seemed to be clever, but she wasn’t as cold as they said… He mind went back to when he overheard a couple of maids talking in the kitchen.
“She’s such a independent girl. Pity she isn’t sociable though. I would love to have a chat with her…”
“Are you crazy?! Do you know who she is? She is the Guardians of the Elementals. Do you think she will have enough time for commoners like us? Be glad that we can serve her!”
Jake frowned… maybe… just maybe… he thought for a while more, putting two and two together.
“Erm… your highness… who are your friends?” He asked.
“What?” Ally was surprised. Why did he ask such a random question?
“Why would you want to know that?” She asked again coldly, once she regained her composure.
“Nothing, I am just curious.”
Ally turned around. “Then, I shall not answer your question. For that is not a valid answer.”
Jake looked at her back, she seemed to be angry…
Why did he ask such a question. Ally thought. For an unknown reason, she was angry. No seething. Why does such a question have such an effect on me?
She smirked silently. Maybe it’s because she knew the answer to his question. The answer is, none.
She don’t have a friend, and she don’t need one. They are all fakes. All of them. They act nice to her. But they are all afraid. Afraid of her non-existence powers. She hated them. Always treating her nicely, but she could feel the fear from them. The underlying fear. Some were even worse, they were obsession, obsessed with her. It make her sick.
“I you can pardon me… Can I say that you don’t have a friend?”
Ally stared at him in surprise.
His eyes were clear and solemn.
“I don’t know why you don’t have a friend, but I know that you are lonely.”
Ally eyes widened. How… did… he… know…?
“You know,” he said, smiling softly. “If you are lonely, I can always be your friend.”
“Wh…what are you talking about? I…I have no idea what you are talking about.” Ally sputtered.
Jake smiled again. “Can this instinct, but I feel that you are lonely. That’s all. And when I put two and two with what I know, I figured that you are probably lonely and unhappy…”
Ally kept quiet. After a moment she spoke. “Do not talk nonsense. You know nothing about me at all. Don’t talk about it as if you know anything about me.”
Her voice was cold, and her eyes were hard.
“I’m sorry…” Jake replied. Gulping, he looked away and said. “I know shouldn’t have said any of it.”
“But,” He stood up. “I just really want to be your friend.”
There’s something, something in you, that draws me…
Ally suddenly felt a surge of rage coming from deep within herself.
“What do you treat me as?! I don’t need your pity! I am the Princess, I can have anything I want. Do you think I need your pathetic friendship?” She bursted out.
Jake, seemingly ignoring her, held out his hand solemnly. “If you don’t mind my status, I would be really glad if I could help you in anyway, even if it just being your friend. I don’t really mind if you are the Princess or anyone else. To me, right now, you are just someone in need of companionship.”
“I don’t know what happened to you to cause to be this way, shielding yourself from everyone, being quiet. I am guessing that you have been hurt very much. If I could be your friend, I promise that I will be by your side forever. I will be someone you can voice out your thoughts to. That’s all I can do as your friend. I will be really honored if I can be you friend.”
Ally stared back in shock. Friend… the word sounded strange in her tongue. For ten years, nobody, nobody had ever offered her friendship. Never…
To her surprise, tears welled up her eyes. Ally looked away, as tears rolled down her cheeks. She started to sob. She tried to control, but her sobs got louder and tears started to flow out. It was as if a dam had broke, pent up feelings, anger, frustration… it all came out in sobs.
Jake was utterly horrified. “He…hey! Are you alright? Did I say something wrong? I… I’m sorry!” He looked on helplessly as she continued to cry.
After a while, Ally took out her handkerchief and wiped away the tears from her eyes. How undignified for the Princess to cry in front of somebody.
Still looking away, she said coolly. “You swear in the name of the 6 elements that you will be my true friend forever? You swear you will be by my side forever?”
Jake blinked, but as her words started to sink in, he smiled softly. “Yes, Your highness. I swear in the name of the elements that I will be a true friend to you.”
Ally stood up slowly. Her eyes were brimming with tears, but she forced herself to speak levelly. Facing him, she said. “Then if you break your promise, you will die under the hands of the elements. Understand?”
Jake smiled again. “Yes, I do. So friends?” He asked as he stretched out his hand.
Ally looked away. “It’s pretty undignified for a princess to stoop into such a level as to befriend a commoner, but still.” Looking at him, she let a slip of a smile show on her face. “Friends.”
Unaware to any of them, a lone figure stood behind a tree, looking at them. Smiling softly, it disappeared.

Author's note: The end of chapter one. I have lost count of how many times I rewrote this chapter. (Maybe, 5 or 6 times?) This chapter tells me how much ineffiecent I am in writing emotional stories. I was so fed up with it. By the time I finished it, i couldn't look at it anymore and just threw it here. So it might be littered with grammerical and strange tenses and the sentences might not flow. Sorry >.< But I could bear to read it anymore. I am scared I might want to rewrite it again. -.-
So, this chapter roughly tells us of how Jake and Ally met when they were 9 and 8 respectively.
I might, (most definately), change or edit it again. So when I am
finally finished with it, I will repost it again.
Oh yeah. When there are tots, the words are suppose to be in italics, but I am just so lazy now, I dun have the energy to go through the whole thing and do the italics. Haha. Sorry. >.<
