Ally's Chronicles - Book one
Chapter one part two
“One, two, one, two… slowly your highness. This dance must be done slowly in order to achieve the desired effect of gracefulness and gentleness.” A tall and thin woman in her early thirties said promptly as she waved her hands around.
A young girl, wearing a pink tight dress nodded curtly before she proceeded to do as her tutor said.
“Smile, Princess Alexabdra. Show the audiences your wonderful and bright smile.” The woman said irritatedly as she clapped her hands to the beat of the music.
Stretching her lips to more of a grimace then a smile, the princess spun around the large dancing room, trying to keep to the ridiculously slow beat her Dance Tutor was clapping.
Finally, after what seemed like hours. Her Tutor stopped her clapping and said that her performance was improving. After that, she curtsied and exited the room. Leaving Princess Alexabdra tired, sweating, and panting.
“You did a good job, your highness. I can see that you tried your best in the dance. That is very commendable.” Her maid, Lasana, said as she applauded.
Princess Alexabdra looked sharply at her maid and said coolly.
“My Tutor does not seem to think so, Miss Lasana.”
Giving her most cheerful smile, she walked closer to the princess and put a comforting hand on the small shoulders.
“Do not worry much about it, your highness. Tutor Hennea merely thinks that you could do much better if your smile was… brighter. Is… it that hard to smile?”
Brushing off the fingers from her shoulders, Princess Alexabdra turned around and started to take off her dancing dress. Immediately, Lasana hurried to help her put on her summer dress.
“Be quiet. It not your place to ask me such a question. Do you think that I would not smile if I could? There is nothing for me to smile about here.”
Lasana kept quiet at her young mistress’s words.
The young girl had been raised up in a cold and, she must admit, an unloving surrounding. Her parents, Their Most Honored and Loved Majesties, are often busy, and so doesn’t have much time to spent with their only child and daughter.
Since the Princess was young, their majesties have left the care of the Princess to the servants, and the Tutors. As the servants were afraid and awed of the Princess, none of them has been very close with the Princess. Although the Princess has been well brought up and taught, she does not have any close friend. Throughout her life, she has been a quiet girl who spoke to no one unless necessary. When she was six, she also started declined invitations to play with other kids her age.
When she was first announced to be the Princess’s personal maid, she was rather nervous. She heard stories of how hard the Princess was to take care, but after she had taken care of her, she realized that she was the easiest person to take care of. She agreed to almost whatever she said. She wasn’t fussy and she was a child genius too. However, the Princess kept her thoughts to herself and refuses to share her feelings with anybody. It had worried her slightly, and so she tried to be as friendly as possible with her, but none of her advances worked. The more she tried to be close to her, the more she shunned her.
As Lasana was in deep thought, the Princess suddenly turned to her and stared at her. “What are you thinking about me?” She asked tonelessly, with a hint of curiousness in her voice.
Blushing faintly, Lasana bowed her head and said. “I’m sorry your highness, I was just wondering about …things. I had not meant your highness any harm.” To herself, she thought,
how did she know what I am thinking of?
Sounding slightly wryly, the Princess said. “You forget that I have telepathy powers that I inherited from the Queen, Miss Lasana.”
Blushing an even deeper shade, Lasana bit her lower lip and said apologetically. “Please pardon me your highness. It slipped off my mind. I plead you not to take offence your highness.”
The princess tipped her head and said coolly. “None taken, Miss Lasana.” With that, she moved out of the dancing studio and walked down the huge hallway.
Lasana hurried after her, waving at the guards outside the studio to follow.
After a while, Lasana looked the back of the Princess and looked at the ground. Of course the Princes telepathic powers creeps her out. In fact, everyone was creeped out by the princess telepathic powers and her ‘other powers’ … But that wasn’t all the problem though, the Princess was always toneless, emotionless, always looking coolly at people with the cold amethyst eyes of hers. No matter how hard she tries, she could never reach her through the cold hard shell she keep herself in.
“What do I have next, Miss Lasana?” The Princess words startled her out of her thoughts.
Lasana checked the timetable quickly and replied. “I believe it’s Magic Classes your highness.”
Almost immediately, the Princess stopped in her tracks.
Alarmed, Lasana stopped walking and turned back. “What is it your highness? Are you sick?” She asked worriedly.
Her face hidden by her hair, she asked softly. “Can…can I not go for it?”
Lasana was surprised, never had the princess refused to do anything. Puzzled, she replied. “I do not believe so your highness. Your mother, the Queen, did your timetable. I doubt she will be pleased if you skipped any of your lessons.”
The princess stiffened at the mention of her mother. After a moment’s pause, she said coldly. “Let’s go then. If the Queen commands it.”
Lasana was slightly shocked by the princess cold tone, but she shook away her surprise and hurried after her.
