Ally's Chronicles - Book one

Chapter one part three
Her maid and her guards left her with a deep curtsy the moment she stepped into the small and dusty room.

I’m glad she is gone, Alexabdra thought as she sat down opposite her Magic Tutor, Tutor Sherennda. She detested it when anyone bothers her. Why can't they just leave her alone?

She glanced at the middle-age woman in front of her. She couldn’t help narrowing her eyes. Why by the Elementals must she attend Magic lessons? They made her feel so useless…

“Your highness, how are you feeling? Have you felt any…different?” Tutor Sherennda asked eagerly, jolting her out of her thoughts

Taking a deep breathe, Alexabdra replied curtly. “No.”

That caused Tutor Sherennda to go into another interrogation.

This is exactly why I hate Magic lessons. Alexabdra thought stiffly. Although she was the supposedly the Chosen one who will save everyone from a Creature and get herself killed in the process. She does not have the Elemental powers that she was foretold to have, only telepathic powers that all elves have.

That caused a lot trouble evidently. Her parents had first panicked, rushing about finding Tutors to locate her missing powers, although she feels that she would do much better without the powers, (She has no wish to sacrifice herself) she had felt a first rush of happiness when her parents started to pay extra attention to her. They kept trying to reassure her by saying that she will get her powers soon, as they did not know her dislike for the prophecy. But as time goes by, her parents start to get upset, in fact, she had caught some of the disappointed looks that her parents sometimes give her. It made her feel…guilty…guilty for not having these powers. She knew that her parents…including the whole country had looked forward to her ‘amazing’ powers. It was also why her parents had kept the thing about her not having any powers a secret from everybody. Only her parents, some of the tutors and council members and herself know.

The interrogation had also started because of this. Every time she went for Magic lessons, she would be interrogated by Tutor Sherennda as to find out if she had developed any sign of Elemental magic, but after five years, they have yet to appear. This caused her feel humiliated every time she was interrogated.

After she had replied every question, Tutor leaned back in her chair and sighed. “Not today? Maybe tomorrow…” She mumbled to herself.

Alexabdra felt immensely irritated. Suppressing her annoyance, she sat still, her hands folded neatly and back straight, her face passive and cold.

How she wished she could escape from this prison like room. To run outside, free and unburdened by any prophecies or responsibilities… the only job being to enjoy herself. She closed her eyes for a moment, before opening them. To her surprise, she found herself looking into a pair of amber colored eyes.

Raising an eyebrow, she asked politely. “Is there any problem, Tutor Sherennda?”

The Tutor shook her head. “It’s nothing, just that you seemed to be in your own little world back then.”

Alexabdra studied her hands. For there was nothing she could say.

“Well,” Tutor Sherennda said as she sat back. “Shall we revise what we learnt yesterday?”

“If that is what you want, Tutor.” Alexabdra replied in monotone, and proceeded to demonstrate what she had learned.

After a while, Tutor Sherennda nodded and told her to sit down.

Alexabdra sat down.

Tutor Sherennda smiled and said, “Good, you have improved. You have mastered the basic of aura reading and sensing thoughts. That’s quite admirable for a child like you. It seems that you have quite a flair for psychic powers.”

Alexabdra looked at the ground and said. “Thank you. I’m happy to hear that.” As she was saying, her voice was toneless and insincere.

Tutor Sherennda sensed it and sighed. The child was gifted, but unsociable to the point that she was speaking just for the sake of speaking. It makes her wonder why she spoke at all.

Standing up, she bowed. “Pardon me your highness, would you mind if I go out to retrieve something?”

Standing up too. Alexabdra shook her head wordlessly. I would be glad if you left this place for eternity. She thought darkly.

After her Tutor has went out, Alexabdra found herself gazing out of the window.

As if her legs moved by their own accord, she walked to the window. The grass was lush and green and the branches of the trees waved with the breeze, as if beckoning her to join them outside.

Alexabdra hesitated. In her ten years of life, she had never defied her parents or anyone, neither had she skipped her lessons, with the guards and maid round, it is impossible to get around without someone following her.

I am fed up with all of it. She thought. Looking out again, she narrowed her eyes and thought grimly. So why not? She climbed out of the window, dropping on the soft grass nimbly.

She ran a good distance away from the palace before she stopped. She looked around her and found herself in some kind of an orchard. Leaning on a sturdy apple tree, she slided to the ground with a relieved sigh. It was the first time she has been anywhere without anybody’s presence.

Breathing in the clean, clear air, she laid under the shade of the tree, looking at the trees dancing to the music of the wind, the petals of flowers twirling in the breeze, and feeling a cool breeze caress her face. She felt herself relaxing. She was slightly surprised, as she had never known that she was tense.

Reaching out her hands, she picked out a snow-white petal that was drifting in the wind. A dozen more of the petal floated past. How could she forget that it was blooming season? All of the flowers would be opened now.

Alexabdra held the petal closer to her. How delicate it is, she thought as she admired the heart-shaped petal.

Letting go of the petal, she watched as the petal floated in the breeze. “Where ever you are going little petal, good luck.” She whispered to the wind, looking at the petal until it drifted out of sight. How she wished she could be like the petal, floating freely on the wind with all of it’s friends…

Author's note: In case you dun noe, Alexabdra is the girl which the prohercy mentions in the prolouge. However, she does not have the elemental powers she was supposed to have.

Ally (Short for Alexabdra) is a cool and cold girl, as mentioned before in part two, by Lasana. in truth, Alexabdra is not such a cold person, it is just that she is sad... more will be explained in the next chapter. ^^ I will be posting it today too. ^^
